Course Overview
Introduction to Aviation Management is a 120-hour course designed to help learners understand how the aviation industry is organized, managed, regulated, financed, and improved. The course examines aviation as a complex system made up of airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, regulators, manufacturers, maintenance organizations, flight training units, security agencies, passengers, communities, and global institutions.
The course is written for learners who may be entering aviation from business, hospitality, transportation, public administration, flight operations, or general management backgrounds. It uses practical examples from airports, airlines, flight schools, cargo operations, and aviation service organizations so that students can connect management theory to operational aviation realities.
Aviation management requires both business discipline and safety discipline. Unlike many industries, aviation organizations cannot measure success only through profit, growth, or customer satisfaction. They must also manage operational risk, regulatory compliance, human factors, emergency preparedness, environmental expectations, and public trust. This course therefore treats aviation management as a balance between commercial performance, public responsibility, and safe system design.
By the end of the course, students should be able to explain the major sectors of aviation, interpret basic aviation management documents, analyze operational problems, evaluate stakeholder interests, prepare management reports, and propose practical solutions that respect safety, service, financial, regulatory, and ethical constraints.
